1993 Eddy Merckx Motorola Team Bike

I acquired this frame, serial number L-5188-D, on eBay in the spring of 2007, with only the headset and cable stops, and began researching and assembling it with what I hope are correct parts. Most are the later versions of the 74XX series Dura Ace, with a few erroneous exceptions. The bike measures 59cm CC seat-tube x 58cm TT, and is made of Columbus SLX. It rides like a stage-race bike, long, stiff and stable...

The previous owner said that this bike was ridden by Michel Dernies, only in the U.S. in 1993, most notably at the USPRO race in Philadelphia that year (which was won by teammate Lance, who went on to win World's that year). I haven't done much to confirm this.

As I continue to research the team and the bike, I'll update descriptions here. I welcome input and corrections at rsduganATyahooDOTcom.

Thanks to Chuck Schmidt, Andrew Hillman and Jeremy Rauch for their input and expertise.
