This late sixties Torpado could use a good cleaning and tuning.

I have owned and ridden a very similar Torpado and the ride is typical Italian and impressive for a bicycle like this. They just seem to know how to build bicycles in Italy. At least they did back in th esixties and seventies.

The transmission for this old Torpado Lux is Gian Robert. Entry level Campagnolo components could be ordered also. This is a Gian Robert Competition rear derailleur.

This old San Marco saddle adds to the vintage appeal though I have never sat one. It is, none the less, interesting.

The entire frame and fork set is chrome with light blue paint in the head tube lug windows. There is a very light patina of rust that cleans off very well. The wheel rims are worst hit by the rust but even they clean up fairly well.

The Torpado head tube lug work with the pale blue window cut outs. The lugs are fancy in their own right but I do not know the make.

This second old Torpado has a smaller frame,is a pretty bicycle and a great project for someone interested in restoring it or setting it up as an interesting single speed.

This smaller Torpado will most likely offer a smooth and relatively predictable ride. The vintage feel cannot help but come out.

TorpadoSilverCrankRings

The late sixties vintage is showing in this crank and ring set. Cottered cranks and all steel. Not necessarily light but pretty darn strong, for its day.
