Campagnolo "Pave Style"
I'm calling the irregular texture or dots on the front parallelogram plate of early Campagnolo rear derailleurs "Pave Style", contrasted with the orderly rows of dots (squares actually) most commonly seen on Nuovo Record rear's. Pave, of course, represents the cobbles of France and Belgum, but also a jewlrey store in Oakland, Calif. where my wife and I got our wedding rings. It's called Pave and the jewler does incrusted diamonds resembling Pave. Pave Style is also seen on Campag. QR's, front derailleurs and tools. On rear derailleurs, Pave Style carries through from Gran Sport of the 1950's to early Nuovo Record. Pave Style, however, may have disappeared from the NR rear mech. after 1970.
