The members of the San Francisco Bicycle Club on Sunday started for a club picnic at Crystal Springs. The start was made from Mission and Twenty-first streets. The grounds were reached shortly after 12 M., and lunch was at once served. In the afternoon a run was made farther up the canyon, where a couple of hours were pleasantly passed. This is the first club run at which Captain Houseworth assumed command. The following were present: Houseworth, Captain: C. A. McDonald, First Lieutenant; Charles B. Wheaton, Second Lieutenant: O. C. Haslett, B. C. Austin Jr., Beverly Letcher, A. M. Brown, F. A. McLaughlin, Benjamin H. Patrick, H. C. Finkler, William Day, and Messrs. Knapp and Donnelly of the San Mateo County Wheelmen. The return was made at 3:45 P. M.

A. M. Brown addressed the party on the subject of the Alameda contingent, better known as the Alameda Scorchers, and created considerable merriment.

The Alameda Scorchers will enter three men for the Santa Cruz races - Wheaton, Ireland and Brown.
The Alameda Scorchers were recently organized, with the following charter members: Charles Wheatson, James Tyson, the Haslett brothers, A. M. Brown and A. S. Irelan. The officers are: Percy Haslett, president and captain; Al Brown, secretary and treasurer: A. S. Irelan, lieutenant. They expect to have their new uniforms out by the 1st prox., and intend to participate in the Santa Cruz meet as a club.

Last week at the residence of Albert Brown, Alameda, the Alameda Scorchers, a bicycle club, were organized. The charter members are: Charles Wheatson, James Tyson, the Haslett brothers, A. M. Brown, and A. S. Ireland. The officers are Percy Haslett. President and Captain; Al Brown, Secretary and Treasurer; and A. S. Ireland, Lieutenant. The club has gone to Santa Cruz, and are camping in grounds of the Pacific Ocean House. They will enter three more men in the bicycle races at Santa Cruz on the Fourth, Wheaton, Ireland, the one wheel rider, and Brown.
Brown, a member of the Alameda Scorchers, had a serious fall from his wheel. He struck the ground with great force and received a severe scalp wound. One wrist also was sprained. He was taken to San Leandro and his injuries were dressed.
