A. M. Brown addressed the party on the subject of the Alameda contingent, better known as the Alameda Scorchers, and created considerable merriment.

The Alameda Scorchers are in doubt as to what uniform to adopt. Why not try a racing jersey and a single-barreled eyeglass? This together with Captain Haslett's well known smile, would be light and comfortable.

The Alameda Scorchers will enter three men for the Santa Cruz races - Wheaton, Ireland and Brown.

The Alameda Scorchers were recently organized, with the following charter members: Charles Wheatson, James Tyson, the Haslett brothers, A. M. Brown and A. S. Irelan. The officers are: Percy Haslett, president and captain; Al Brown, secretary and treasurer: A. S. Irelan, lieutenant. They expect to have their new uniforms out by the 1st prox., and intend to participate in the Santa Cruz meet as a club.

Last week at the residence of Albert Brown, Alameda, the Alameda Scorchers, a bicycle club, were organized. The charter members are: Charles Wheatson, James Tyson, the Haslett brothers, A. M. Brown, and A. S. Ireland. The officers are Percy Haslett. President and Captain; Al Brown, Secretary and Treasurer; and A. S. Ireland, Lieutenant. The club has gone to Santa Cruz, and are camping in grounds of the Pacific Ocean House. They will enter three more men in the bicycle races at Santa Cruz on the Fourth, Wheaton, Ireland, the one wheel rider, and Brown.

In reply to a request for information the following was supplied from the Secretary's office at Boston under date of June 3d last as the list of California clubs which had complied with the requirements necessary to constitute them league clubs. The date of joining the league is given with each club: Los Angeles Wheelmen, December 1, 1885: Bay City Wheelmen, February 18, 1886; Oak Leaf Wheelmen of Stockton, November 15, 1888; San Francisco Bicycle Club, January 1, 1887. Since then, as of June 8, 1887, the Alameda Scorchers have qualified as a league club.

The principal bicycle clubs of San Francisco, Oakland, and vicinity recently organized the California Team Interclub Road Racing Association. The clubs in the association are the Ariel Club of Oakland, the Outing Cycle Club of San Francisco, the Garden City Club of San Jose, the Alameda Scorchers of Alameda, the Bay City Wheelmen of San Francisco, and the Oak Leaf Club of Stockton.
